Biography
Juliel’s roots stem from Quebec City where she learned to engulf a room with an emotion set apart from all others. A surprising folk-rock sound that touches and warms the soul.
IT WAS DESTINY
Juliel was found playing an acoustic guitar with a twinkle in her eyes in her early childhood. The young artist naturally feels and has a tasteful rhythm of blues and folk rock. In her adolescence, Juliel was composing and singing her own songs on the local scene.
INSPIRED WRITTING
Excited and interested in adventure, Juliel takes across west Canada, Asia and Europe on her own journey. She uses her personal experiences of the vast and diverse cultures, traditions and languages in her writing today. She expresses it through her emotion and delivery between country-folk and soft–rock giving it her own unique identity.
THE STEPPING STONE
After being noticed in 2008 at the concert at Au Vieux Bureau de Poste de Saint-Romuald, Juliel decided to take part in the contest for up and coming musicians at the Festival d’été de Beloeil. The contest was a complete success as it landed the opportunity to open for Marie-Elaine Thibert during the festival.
Strongly connecting to her 100% personally written material, Juliel shines through 2008 and 2009, including two performances during the 400th anniversary of Quebec City festivities, multiple full house nights at the Centre d’art La Chapelle, at La Maison O’neil and more recently during the Jasper in January Festival in Alberta.
A MOST ANTICIPATED ALBUM DEBUT
In the Fall of 2009, Juliel collaborates with Andre Godbout for producing her first album. They then gather a group of talented musicians for the recording. Launched on March 5th 2010 at Au Vieux Bureau de Poste de Saint-Romuald in front of a sold out crowd, the 13 songs album holds a promising future!
In Living Colour
In fall of 2011, Juliel is back with her second release entitled "Orange - Blue". With this new, colourful concept Juliel reveals two facets of her personality. On the "Orange" side (Pop/Rock) she invites you to move and groove to the rhythms of the music and on the "Blue" side (Folk/Country) she invites you to sit back, relax & let yourself simply go with the flow.
With her new album comes a new stage show in which Juliel builds a world where music, dance and visual arts collide. With a backdrop of beautiful paintings from renowned artists as well as performances from contemporary dance artists, everything is there to keep your senses completely stimulated!
